INSTITUTE OF TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY

The Institute of Textile Technology (ITT), located in Choudwar, Cuttack, Odisha, is the only institute in Orissa offering an engineering course in Textile Technology. Established in 1983 by the Department of Industries, Govt. of Orissa, it was created to develop textile manpower and improve technical knowledge for the region's textile industries. It is currently under the Skill Development and Technical Education (SD&TE) department. In 2007, Electronics & Telecommunication and Mechanical Engineering were added to its curriculum, followed by Mechatronics in 2009. Courses offered now include Textile Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Civil Engineering, and Electronics & Telecommunication. The institute provides facilities such as a Library, Hostel, and Canteen. Admission is granted through the Diploma Entrance Test (DET) conducted by SCTE & VT, with students admitted either as freshers after matriculation or through lateral entry after ITI or +2 science, followed by an e-counselling process. ITT also hosts a training centre of the Department of Industries, as found in other government polytechnics in Odisha, and placement assistance is provided through the Central Placement Cell, Orissa.
