M.P. Shah Medical College, formally known as Shri Meghji Pethraj Shah Government Medical College, is a public medical college located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. It is named after Meghji Pethraj Shah and is affiliated with the Guru Gobindsingh Government Hospital (G.G.G. Hospital), formerly called Irwin Hospital, which was inaugurated by Lord Irwin in 1927 and is the second-largest hospital complex in Gujarat. The hospital was expanded in 1933 under Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, and several dispensaries were merged into it, giving rise to the name G.G. Hospitals. In 1954, M.P. Shah Medical College was established, with Irwin Hospital affiliated to it. In 2000, the hospital complex was renamed Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in honor of Guru Gobind Singh's 300th birth anniversary. The hospital started with 200 beds in 1927 and has since expanded to a bed strength of 1275 (as of 2005), with 50 indoor wards and 10 operation theaters, serving as a major tertiary care and referral center for the Saurashtra region. The college is affiliated with Saurashtra University and offers MBBS along with various MD and MS postgraduate courses in fields such as general medicine, radiology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ENT, general surgery, orthopaedics, and anaesthesia.
