GANGADHAR MEHER UNIVERSITY

Gangadhar Meher University, located in Amruta Vihar, Sambalpur, Odisha, India, is a state university named after the Odia poet Gangadhar Meher. The institution was originally established in 1944 as Sambalpur College, starting with 192 students. In 1949, its name was changed to Gangadhar Meher College. The college was later upgraded to university status in 2015 and was renamed Gangadhar Meher University. N. Nagaraju currently serves as the vice-chancellor of the university, while Jugaleswari Dash holds the position of registrar, and Uma Charan Pati serves as the deputy registrar. The university has thus evolved over several decades from a college into a full-fledged state university, reflecting its long institutional history in the Sambalpur region of Odisha.
